1. Aidan Hutchinson - DE - Dearborn (MI) Divine Child
Weight: 235 lbs.
Notable offers: LSU, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Wisconsin
247 Composite: 4-star, #8 SDE, #199 overall
Analysis: I wouldn't have put Hutchinson this high if I had made this list following his sophomore year, but I saw some real improvements when it comes to both technique and athleticism since last year. He's the son of former Michigan defensive tackle Chris Hutchinson, and I think his dad has been teaching him some things. The younger Hutchinson is a high-motor kid who has quick reaction skills, shows an array of pass rushing moves to beat offensive linemen, and plays aggressively.
2. Kalon Gervin - CB - Detroit (MI) Cass Tech
Weight: 180 lbs.
Notable offers: Florida, LSU, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State
247 Composite: 4-star, #17 ATH, #222 overall
Analysis: The next in a long line of highly touted Cass Tech corners, Gervin has decent size and speed. He's a good all-around player with fluid hips and a physical nature that should translate well to playing some press man coverage in college. He's not quite on the same level as a Jourdan Lewis or Ambry Thomas as an overall athlete.
3. Ryan Hayes - OT - Traverse City (MI) West
Weight: 252 lbs.
Notable offers: Michigan State, Notre Dame
247 Composite: N/A
Analysis: Hayes is a lumbering tight end in high school, but he projects to offensive tackle in college. He'll need to put on some weight, but I like turning tight ends into tackles. He bends well, moves his feet, and can drive people in the running game. Pass protection will be a bigger issue since he plays in a run-oriented offense that doesn't ask him to pass block much, but he has the athleticism to make that transition.
4. Marquan McCall - OG - Oak Park (MI) Oak Park
Weight: 320 lbs.
Notable offers: Michigan, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Penn State, Tennessee, Wisconsin
247 Composite: 4-star, #3 OG, #96 overall
Analysis: McCall would probably be higher on this list if not for concerns about whether he'll continue his high school football career or not. He's a large, stout offensive guard and nose tackle who probably projects to offense in college. He's a mauler who finishes blocks and plays with good leverage. He's not the most athletic player, and he gets too high for my liking when he plays nose tackle, but the potential is there to be a very solid guard.
5. Jason Whittaker - QB - Rockford (MI) Rockford
Weight: 200 lbs.
Notable offers: Indiana, Iowa State, Northwestern
247 Composite: 3-star, #19 pro-style QB, #438 overall
Analysis: Whittaker doesn't leap off the screen for his athletic gifts, but he's very much in command of his team's offense. His ball handling and footwork are very good, and he has a quick release. He's decently athletic, throws well on the run, and throws an accurate, catchable football.
5. Reggie Pearson, Jr. - S - River Rouge (MI) River Rouge
Weight: 185 lbs.
Notable offers: Arkansas, Syracuse, Wisconsin
247 Composite: 3-star, #46 S, #501 overall
Analysis: Pearson, who claims a 4.52 forty that is probably exaggerated, just looks like a Wisconsin safety. He's a little bit undersized and not particularly fast, but he's very physical and has good instincts for the safety position. He can support the run, cover tight ends, and play a deep half of the field.
5. Ovie Oghoufo - LB - Farmington Hills (MI) Harrison
Weight: 207 lbs.
Notable offers: Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame
Commitment: Notre Dame
247 Composite: 3-star, #24 OLB, #321 overall
Analysis: Oghoufo committed to Notre Dame in July of 2016. He's an outside linebacker type who's a little bit skinny and lanky right now. He plays a lot of receiver for Harrison, but that's not his future position. He has decent athleticism, but he doesn't stand out among all the other players. I would like to see him play more physically and with a little more of a chip on his shoulder.
6. Theo Day - QB - Dearborn (MI) Divine Child
Weight: 197 lbs.
Notable offers: Kentucky, Michigan State, Missouri
247 Composite: 3-star, #20 pro-style QB, #468 overall
Analysis: Day is a tall pocket quarterback who has some decent running ability in a straight line, but he's not much of a scrambler. He reminds me of former Sturgis (MI) Sturgis and Wisconsin quarterback Chance Stewart. Day has a powerful arm and throws a catchable ball, but he has an elongated delivery and is a little bit stiff in the pocket.
6. Tyrone Sampson, Jr. - C - Detroit (MI) East English Village
Weight: 295 lbs.
Notable offer: Syracuse
247 Composite: 4-star, #1 OC, #260 overall
Analysis: Sampson is a powerful player who's built low to the ground. He has thick legs that help him anchor down, but he's not the fleetest of foot and needs to work out some footwork issues. He has nice, crisp shotgun snaps and also shows an ability to pull and trap.
7. DeAndre Square - LB - Detroit (MI) Cass Tech
Weight: 200 lbs.
Notable offers: Arizona, Kentucky, LSU, Michigan State, Wisconsin
247 Composite: 4-star, #23 S, #301 overall
Analysis: Square plays an outside linebacker position for Cass Tech. Despite being listed as a safety by 247 Sports, I think he's lacking the speed and change-of-direction skills to play in the secondary at a big-time program. He's probably more of a strong safety/outside linebacker hybrid for the next level. Square is a big hitter with some speed and solid instincts.
